London Cassell & Co. 1954 tall 4to. cloth, dust jacket. 60 pages of text followed by 58 plates; with a full color frontispiece.
First edition. (S-K 3516, Brenni no. 837). Ireland had a period of craftsmanship in binding that rivaled that of any other country during this brief period. Craig discusses this movement. He also describes the folio volumes of the records of the Irish Parliament which were some of the most beautifully bound books of the period, by using rubbings and photographs taken before the books were destroyed in the 1922 Civil War.
